About the speaker:

Dr Marc Rerceretnam is a freelance academic author and historian. He is the principal researcher at Yesteryear Heritage Researchers. He has taught at various universities and has a Ph.D. (Econ History) from the University of Sydney. He also served as an elected representative in Local Government from 2004 to 2012. He has a special interest in social and political trends and movements in colonial and present-day Singapore, Malaysia and Australia and has published a book and many academic journal articles on a variety of issues.

Event 2 – Ikat Sarong by Evelyn Tian

 Evelyn Tian, President PAA NSW, will then take the floor to show us how to Ikat Sarong. So please bring along your sarong.

Kindly note, we will have an early start at 12.00 pm sharp.  We will start with a quick presentation by Dr. Marc Retceratnam, a Peranakan historian.

We would like to advise everyone, that whilst PAANSW plays host to these enjoyable social Saturdays, our Executive Committee extends its appreciation to all for their attendance to share and enjoy everything PERANAKAN.

PAANSW provides tea and coffee. If any member or guest would like to bring along a plate of Kueh Kueh, you are welcome to do so.

Cost: Member: $5 per person  Non members: $7 per person.
